13.05 / Concert – Viva Haendel

The refined art of Georg Friedrich Haendel

Geor Friedric Handel – by Denner
Georg Friedrich Haendel (1685–1759),
a cosmopolitan composer and major figure of the European baroque, was able to marry brilliantly Italian elegance, German rigor and English grandeur. His flute sonatas and chamber music works demonstrate a refined art of instrumental dialogue, combining virtuosity, expressiveness and balance. This programme highlights this more intimate facet of his work, where a melodic freedom and a richness of invention typical of his style breathe. Through modern and ancient instruments, the performers offer here a cross-over view of Handel’s chamber music universe.
